Ecological and evolutionary genomics in Methylobacterium
Methylobacterium are common in many environments but thrive primarily on plants, where they represent about 1% of leaf-associated bacteria. Each leaf can host dozens of species with diverse roles, from pathogen defense to growth promotion, all using plant-emitted methanol. This project applies microbial ecology and genomics to study their population dynamics and evolutionary adaptations to plant-associated niches.
